Communication
Communication is important. Communication styles vary. Communication is a lost skill. We have become so lazy with our words we cannot even spell them out but instead we abbreviate everything, use slang terms, create acronyms, and the worst of all, excessively use emoji’s to describe how we are feel. Before written and spoken language early man used pictures and symbols to communicate and tell stories. Scholars discovered ancient carvings in caves and deciphered their meaning and yet we feel unsure how to gauge the mood and expression from the sender of a text.
The missing component is body language. We cannot deny the visual clues given when we communicate face to face. The result of avoiding in person communication is social anxiety. Even when we are in public places, with friends and family, or just around complete strangers we hide behind our devices only to communicate through social media using avatars and false narratives about how perfect everything is. The solution to this dilemma is put down your god damn phones and join the world every once in while. Social media is not real and is not a replacement for human connections.
