Fortitude

To have courage in the face of adversity you need fortitude. Reflecting on the fact that you already overcame 100% of your worst days is not our go to when facing adversity but It can remind us that just because things are hard we can still persevere.

Working through life’s trauma is an innate skill that we were built endure. Evolution has proved this yet we can still find ourselves searching for meaning. Is it the story we tell ourselves or the impact of the pain we feel that strips us of the courage we need. Maybe it’s a level of endurance we must reach that builds up our courage to overcome.

I have experienced some unimaginable events and have surprised myself at how I managed in those moments. Only to discover months even years later I forgot how courageous I was and got lost in the could of, should of, would of thoughts instead.

Over the years, through my own growth and witnessing my client’s growth, I have learned this is the missing piece to recovery. Good or bad life happens. Our experiences shape us. The real work is uncovering where you became stuck. Seems simple enough but without fortitude it can feel impossible to figure out.
