Work

Working on your shit is hard. It requires a level of mental and emotional stamina. Honestly, it is probably the most avoided type of work we decide to do. It makes sense because it is personal, internal, possibly even hidden from the outside world. It can demand your attention at the most inopportune times. It shows up, we pretend we didn’t notice, it temporarily goes away. Eventually you realize it’s a stubborn little fucker and will manifest other ways in your life. Physically, your health will suffer, your appearance will show signs of stress, you mood will fluctuate affecting your relationships. Coping in unhealthy ways soon follows. Addictions to everyday substances; sugar, caffeine, alcohol, food, smoking, binge watching, social media, etc., just to mention a few.

Why? To avoid the inevitable. Doing work on ourselves for ourselves. Why? My belief is we were never taught how. We kind of stumbled around in the dark trying to figure it all out. We found ways to cope with feelings and emotions for better or worse. Somehow in our human existence self-love became a luxury rather than a necessity. Stop excepting this as a norm and start taking care of you. No one is coming to save you. You decide or life will decide for you. You can work on your shit or be the leader of your shit show. Choose wisely. You already have everything you need to heal. This is the work. The one job you have to start showing up for. It pays well and your return on investment is unmatched.
