Listening
Notice how listening coincides with reflecting. As you become still, peaceful and silent you can begin to hear your own vibration. The beat of your heart, the hum of your ears and the movement on breathe all have a rhythm. We owe it to ourselves to take the time to tune in by turning off the clamor of everyday life.
Silence is not lacking vibration or lifeless. On the contrary, silence is a paradox that is both sound and soundlessness. Spending time listening to the sound of your own silence can teach us to become better listeners. With practice and awareness we can improve not only our relationship to self but our relationships with others.
In my coaching practice I incorporate opportunities for my client’s to listen to their own narratives rather than just speaking aloud. I discovered in my own healing journey listening with intention builds self-compassion. Self-compassion is necessary to understanding ourselves. It opens us up to permitting ourselves the courage to heal through grieving and letting go. Reminding us we are always listening to ourselves so why not start practicing a more loving dialogue to hear.
