Muteness
When someone willingly decides to remain silent it is more about attempting to maintain an internal balance rather than a peace keeping tactic. The struggle to go within and become reactionless is difficult because we are accustomed to constant distractions and interruptions. I used to be envious of Buddhist monks and their peaceful demeanor and nonchalant attitude towards everything until I learned to meditate. The monk does not possess any hidden talents or godly gifts. They just take the time to tap in to their inner world. Within is all we need. It is within ourselves that we discover everything we long to know, understand and become. It starts with muteness. The reason being if we never stop talking how can we ever really listen to what we need to hear.
