Utilization
Resourcefulness is a lost art. It seems silly to think about but my memory of my grandparents reminds me of this. They experienced times of war, lack of resources and depressions that taught them how to conserve and save. Somehow, maybe because of technology, being the infinite and endless supply of things at our fingertips 24/7 we freak the fuck out when things become scarce or unavailable.
Hoarding is the coping mechanism of the future. I wonder how useful this is if we lost our appreciation for having enough being okay with what we have. Our over consumption of food, information, and things; literally the collection of stuff that fills our physical and mental space, has changed our idea of basic needs. We arguably have lost our ability to just be and take notice of what we have. Seriously, what is the point of more if it does not meet our needs and we cannot utilize any of it.
