Engagement

When we engage in something we commit to being involved. What does that mean if there are different levels of engagement? You could say it comes down to personal choice in any given situation. But regardless of the situation any choice involves engagement. Engagement is easy. Living with the choices we make is not. Why?

Perhaps the hardest choice to live with is the act of not acting. When we freeze or doubt our intentions by hesitation we judge our moral character. I have learned both sides of this dilemma through learning self compassion. If engaging in life is both active and passive then my participation depends on so many factors that it is useless to use hindsight or judgement. The real goal in all opportunities is inner harmony. And if we can find the compassion for ourselves to accept that we are doing the best we can at any given time then all choices we will make or have made are right.
